Big Bang brings in 36 billion KRW in 2008

YG Entertainment revealed recently that Big Bang has brought a total of 36 billion KRW of revenue in year 2008.

In 2008 itself, Big Bang has been busy with albums release, concerts, CF, merchandizing sales etc and they had all brought in about 20 thousand million KRW of revenue. All these together with their online sales adds up to 36 billion KRW.

From these, the revenue from their concert were the highest. With 2 concert performances in Japan, 1 concert performance in Thailand and 3-months concert tour in Korea, they had all add up to 5 billion KRW.

The 2nd major source of their revenue is their product endorsement and album sales. They released a total of 6 albums/singles and 8 CFs which totaled up to 4 billion KRW. The 8 CF were their endorsement for FILA, Baskin Robbin’s, Skoolooks, LG CYON, NII etc.

And for their albums/singles released, they began with the release of their 1st Japanese single ‘How Gee’ in January, and subsequently released 1 live album, and several minialbums and official albums which achieved 470,000 copies in album sales, according to HanTeo Chart.

500,000 album sales copies will be expected by this year-end. And with average selling price of 8 thousand KRW each, they are expected to bring in 0.4 billion KRW in revenue.

Big Bang’s songs and member’s solo songs released online are also said to reached about 4 billion won. Even though there is still no exact final sum for revenue from this category, YG representative said looking from current situation from their mobile phone bell ringtones and mobile phone music download record, it is said to be able to bring in over 4 thousand million KRW in revenue.

Their online album sales brings in about 25% of the annual revenue, totalling up to about 16 billion KRW.

And also, with their every public performance, their merchandize sales also brought in about 0.3∼0.4 billion KRW and for their merchandize sales on YG I-Shop, it is said to have achieved about 2 billion KRW in sales. Other than that, an additional of 1 billion KRW was brought with the related sales when they attend certain events in 2008.

Big Bang has also indirectly triggered economic effect during this year. The clothes that they donned for performance on stage has also brought in sales for boutiques selling them in DongDaeMun. And of the group, member GDragon who also does producing for the group has also brought in revenue in terms of copyright terms for their production.

YG Entertainment said, “Big Bang is not only know for their music but also for their fashion. Their fashion influence those in their teens while their music attracts those in their 20s and 30s, they have a wider consumer market as compared to other groups around.”

Big Bang 2nd breakthrough of the year - 100,000 album sales in just 3 weeks into comeback

Group Big Bang has proofed to be also a ‘Big Bang’ in the album sales market.

Following the statistics posted on internet album sales collation site HanTeo site on 26th November, Big Bang’s 2nd official album ‘Remember’ released on 5th November has achieved more than 100,000 albums sales by 25th November, with total album sales of 100,300 copies.

Big Bang have expressed their excitement for attaining such good album sales of more than 100,000 copies in just 3 weeks into their comeback.

Big Bang has already achieved more than 100,000 album sales with the release of their 3rd minialbum ‘Stand Up’ in August. This makes that all the albums that Big Bang released this year have all break the record of 100,000 album sales.

Two Top Stars Bare It All in New Movie

Korea’s two top male stars, Jo In-sung and Joo Jin-mo, have revealed their hunky physiques in their new film, “Frozen Flower.” The film’s preview showed some very tantalizing scenes involving the two actors in bed.

“Frozen Flower” is a historical film about the love and betrayal among a Goryeo king (played by Joo Jin-mo) at the end of the Goryeo era, his queen from China (Song Ji-hyo) and his bodyguard Hong-rim (Jo In-sung). Based on a song from the Goryeo period, the film depicts the king’s homosexual relationship in an unprecedented manner.

Riding the recent gender-bending trend in Korean movies as in “Antique” and “Portrait of a Beauty,” director Yoo Ha of “Frozen Flower” does not flinch from showing what goes on between gay men behind closed doors. The film is currently waiting for its rating, which is likely to be an R-rating, as it contains sizzling scenes between Joo and Jo. Korean film lovers are eagerly waiting for the film’s release, which is slated for December 30.
